Microsoft victory in overseas data privacy case stands -

Microsoft gave the US government account information it kept on US soil, but said the content of emails was off-limits because it was stored on servers in IrelandA federal appeals court on Tuesday reaffirmed Microsoft's legal right to refuse a US government order to hand over data stored overseas in a case with important privacy implications. A divided panel of judges in New York denied a petition by the US for a rehearing of a ruling last year in a case pitting Microsoft against the government over data stored in servers in Ireland. The December 2013 warrant directed Microsoft to turn over the contents of an email account used by a suspected drug trafficker.

Former CEO, board member of Fingerprint Cards released from custody - Sweden's economic crime agency said on Tuesday it had released Fingerprint Cards board member Lars Soderfjell and former CEO Johan Carlstrom from custody but that its investigation into market abuse would continue. An probe was launched on Dec. 12 after the Economic Crime Authority was made aware of large volumes of trades ahead of a profit warning by the Swedish smartphone touch sensor-maker days earlier. Texas Instruments quarterly revenue beats on automotive demand -

Texas Instruments, which counts Apple Inc among its largest customers, also forecast current-quarter profit of 78-88 cents per share and revenue of $3.17 billion-$3.43 billion. Analysts on average were expecting a profit of 75 cents per share and revenue of $3.21 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. The company also named Brian Crutcher, who joined the company in 1996, as its chief operating officer.
